Now Is The Time To Manage Financial Aid

If there is a student who has never struggled with the process of financing their education for at least a single semester at MATC then I don’t know that person. As you are likely aware, between each semester it is on the student to have their financial situation with the college together, otherwise the student is unable to register for classes.

Registration for the next semester (at the time of writing that is Winterim and Spring 2025) on November 4th. If you are not in good standing with the college you will not be able to register for classes!!!!!

So the time to get your situation together is now, and not in January!!

Check with your self service and see if you have an outstanding balance of more than $200. From there you can also make a payment plan and get back into good standing with the college in order to register.

The absolute best thing you can do however is to call MATC Student Accounts and make sure that they know your intentions, and that they can take that initial payment that will allow you to register.

The FAST Fund is able to assist some students with the initial payment to get that balance under control, but note that the money we use to provide assistance for tuition may not be available for students who have already used the FAST Fund for rent or other expenses.

Students who make it into the Checota Scholarship must also pay down their balance before they can fully take part in that program!

For students who are returning after a year+ hiatus you may be interested to apply with the schools ReStart Program. This is only available to students with a balance less than $1500, and who have completed at least 6 credits in their past attempts at MATC.

We also encourage students to complete their FAFSA!!! I know that there are students with entirely understandable reasons the FASFA is not assisting them, however completing the FAFSA anyway can open you up grants, and other financial aid beyond direct assistance.
