You've probably seen these signs around campus, FSET stands for FoodShare Employment and Training, and they are just one resource of many in the continuum of resources available for students attending MATC. FSET serves a great number of people beyond our school, however the MATC location works exclusively with our students.
As the flier above outlines FSET is able to help students with a number of things:
Transportation:
Student Bus Passes who miss eligibility for the school's passes (GED, HSED, ESL, <6 credits, etc)
Gas cards every other week (students must provide proof of vehicle use including car insurance, or a title.)
Child Care Authorization:
This is funding for childcare if a student is able to complete the steps to prove that they are taking classes and working. The sum of money to be given to child care is calculated based on the student.
That money may be used for any licensed facility, not exclusively the MATC facility.
Testing Fees:
Many careers at MATC require some testing, and FSET can provide vouchers to pay for them. This can include CNA, Cosmetology, Nail Tech, Barbering, and more.
This can take awhile, and students are encouraged to apply well in advance!!
Short Term Training:
These trainings are through FSET and are seperate from MATC.
They do offer CNA, Forklift and more to help students get to work more quickly
Community Resources and Information:
Job opportunities for graduates from MATC
Connecting with the FAST Fund and Student Resource Center
Students should be aware that FSET is less available to be utilized as an emergency source, and should be enrolled in when you anticipate a need down the way. If you are receiving Foodshare and are an MATC student it behooves you to enroll.
If you are not currently on Foodshare, but believe that you are eligible (or if you were removed recently, and are unsure why that is) please email MATCFSET@gmail.com or call 414-297-6385
